The London Police Service has indicated that they will begin aggressively enforcing window tint standards in London. From their social media post:

Tint applied to the windshield and front windows of a motor vehicle are subject to laws and regulations.  Vehicle tint can seriously reduce the ability for a driver to see other drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, especially at night. It also reduces the ability for others to effectively see if the driver of a vehicle has looked and noticed them.

Here are some quick guidelines!

• Windshield: No tint if extending 76mm or more from the top.
• Front side windows: Must allow 70% light through.

Non-compliance can lead to:

• Permits and plates: Seizure and surrender.
• Fines: $110 for obstructed windows.
• Unsafe vehicle charges: Fines between $400 and $20,000, with a mandatory court appearance.
• Legal liability: Criminal and civil liabilities in accidents causing injury or death.
